Attorney
Our downtown Wichita general practice law firm is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling domestic, criminal, probate, and civil cases, and will be capable of providing effective representation for our diverse clientele.
The successful candidate will have excellent research, writing, and interpersonal skills, and will be able to work independently as well as part of a team. This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to become the lead on his or her own cases from inception to settlement or potential trial and to do so very quickly based on a showing of strong client management skills and analytical thinking. The ideal candidate will have excellent research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills, as well as possess an ability to work both independently and on a team. Applicants should be willing to learn, take direction well, and be willing to assist fellow attorneys in their respective caseloads.
The associate may be given an opportunity to develop a practice outside of the areas listed above based upon demonstration of aptitude, ability, and willingness to learn, develop a client base and other factors.
Qualifications / Job Requirements

JD degree and membership in good standing with the Kansas State Bar

Excellent legal writing skills

Superior communication, writing, and research skills

Well-organized, and can work independently with little direction, willing to accept new training.

Sew together a cogent and persuasive legal argument (please submit writing samples)

Experience managing own clients (or being lead counsel) a plus

Ability to work successfully with people from diverse backgrounds

Strong time management skills

Moderate to strong understanding and comfort with use of technology and computers

Paralegal- Areas Needed: Family / Criminal/ Litigation
Penner Lowe Law Group, LLC is looking for a Paralegal. Penner Lowe zealously seek the most outstanding result possible for our clients, and we want paralegals who are passionate and ready to fight for our clients. The preferred candidate would have at least 3 years of experience in a law firm environment. This is a professional position with a demanding workload that requires attention to detail and efficiency. The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to multi-task, detail oriented, self-directed, dependable, possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to effectively work as part of a team as well as independently, and have a strong work ethic.
Job Duties:

Assist in drafting correspondence, pleadings, memos, charts, etc. Proofreads and reformats as requested with accuracy and attention to detail.

Maintain calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, calls, and deadlines pertaining to attorney dockets. Organize meetings, deliveries, court reporters, witnesses and other special functions and services.

Research case materials, pleadings, and correspondence from document management systems as needed by managing attorney. Familiar with Odyssey, West Law, LexisNexis, and misc legal softwares used to work legal matters.

Trial preparation and overall assistance with indexing, binding, compiling, organizing, scanning, and uploading pleadings, correspondence, case materials, research, graphics, and supplies in anticipation of hearings, depositions, and trials

Proficiency in use of personal computer, software, tools, and applications. Including copy, fax, scanner, printer, multi-line phones, local, state and federal e-filing websites.

Represents attorney in a professional way by communicating and obtaining information from colleagues, co-counsel, opposing counsel, clients, courts, etc.

Responsible for tracking time/billable hours. (TABS3 Software used)
Qualifications

General legal experience.

Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
-
Experience maintaining dockets and working legal documents is preferred.

Ability to work independently and in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage your own caseload with limited supervision.

Highly proficient in WordPerfect, MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
-
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proven track record of legal support experience is preferred.
